Volunteers play an important role in supporting the RRSA Team and assisting with the rescue and rehabilitation of animal welfares and pounds around South Africa. We trust that your time with us will be rewarding and satisfying. Please find below information on volunteering at RRSA. Please note that receipt of this Application Form is not immediate confirmation of acceptance; it is for information purposes, until a volunteer is accepted in writing. You will be notified of acceptance and we will be in contact with you as to volunteering possibilities offered. Your support and willingness are much appreciated.   IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 1. General information: Rescue Rehab South Africa is a non-profit organisation committed to the rehabilitation and upliftment of animal rescues and animal pounds around South Africa. 2. Health considerations: Working with animal and in animal welfare can be both physically and mentally demanding, stressful and tiring. Please keep this in mind when applying to volunteer. If you are immune compromised, taking immune suppressive drugs, or have conditions which may adversely impact on your ability to cope with the demands, please reconsider. RRSA Teams work in urban as well as rural areas. Emergency access to medical care may be delayed or impacted by rain etc. 3. Volunteer period: RRSA has the option for Long Term Volunteers as well as Short Term supporters. Each project will have different requirements that we will be able to negotiate with you as and when we start a new project. 4. Age: RRSA is happy to work with volunteers under the age of 18, but we cannot take any responsibility for accidents or injuries. 5. Accommodation and Catering: RRSA does not charge a volunteer fee. (We appreciate the donation of your time and services). RRSA will do their best to provide basic accommodation and meals, depending on the location and the projects. It will be on a self-catering basis and travelling costs will not be covered, unless otherwise negotiated. 6. Travel Arrangements: The Volunteer is responsible for all their travel arrangements. 7. Travel documentation: It is the responsibility of the volunteer to make sure that the relevant visas and/or permits are in place. 8. Insurance: RRSA does not provide the volunteer with insurance of any kind. Whilst insurance is not mandatory it is strongly recommended. The volunteer is solely responsible for deciding the type, extent and level of any insurance they require during the planned travel period and is responsible for organising this insurance. 9. Personal Risks: Certain risks are inherent part of travel to and in South Africa and with activities associated with working with animals and people in rural communities. The volunteer acknowledges and accepts sole responsibility for any such risks of whatever nature that may occur during the term of this volunteering agreement. 10. Unsuitability/Severance: The volunteer can and will be asked to leave the program should in the opinion of RRSA management or duly authorized representative, be considered unsuitable for the programme for any reason including, but not limited to: • Failure to follow instructions by management or authorized personnel • Failure to adhere to protocols and policies. • Causes disruption. • Compromises the welfare and wellbeing of the people and animals. • Compromises security, confidentiality or integrity of the rhino, staff, volunteers, associates and partners. • Defamatory actions that may damage the reputation of the RRSA, its partners, associates and sponsors. 11. Defamation: The Volunteer may not comment or make any statements to media without the permission of RRSA. RRSA reserves the right to regulate and restrict information and material that the Volunteer posts on social media sites that may compromise the safety, security and confidentiality of the animals, personnel, facilities, associates, partners etc. 12. Media and Social Media: The Volunteer may not comment or make any statements to media without the permission of RRSA. RRSA reserves the right to regulate and restrict information and material that the Volunteer posts on social media sites that may compromise the safety, security and confidentiality of the rhino, personnel, facilities, associates, partners etc. 13. Representation: The Volunteer may not represent themselves as an employee or representative of RRSA. 14. Research and Intellectual: Property RRSA retains all intellectual property rights to any training and orientation material, case records, research and information obtained whilst volunteering at the RRSA. Publication, distribution and use of any of this material or information are only allowed with relevant written permission from RRSA. No research may be carried out without the authorisation of the RRSA and the approval of relevant South African AUCC or Ethics Committee. 15. Indemnity and agreement: As per the Application Form.
